Over the past few years, I have had the opportunity to meet some amazing people in the field of children's literature. I haven't met all of the people I listed below. I am adding a much larger list of authors and illustrators sites in the "links" section of my message board on Yahoo.

M.J. & Herm Auch
Mary Jane and Herm Auch are a talented, married, team. Their picture books are eye catching and clever. M.J. also writes middle grade novels.

Susan W. Beckhorn

Marsha Hayles
Marsha Hayles is an energetic, warm, and personable author. Her style of storytelling charms the youngest of readers, and her books are sure to be favorites for years to come.

Will Hubbell
Will Hubbell is a very talented author / illustrator and writing instructor. He has published two picture books, and the artwork is phenomenal. Will also has written two Young Adult / Adult science fiction novels. He is kind, imaginative, and a wealth of knowledge.

Carol A.Johmann, Ph.D.
Carol has written several hands on learning books and is an avid speaker. This author teaches Science & Engineering, Lewis & Clark history, and nonfiction writing. She is also the President of Rochester Area Children's Writers and Illustrators (RACWI).

Verla Kay
Verla Kay is a successful children's author and a graduate of the Institute of Children's Literature. This website has lots of information on the writing process and many useful links. I haven't had the pleasure of meeting Verla, but I would like to one day.

Jennifer Meagher
Jennifer Meagher is a dynamic writer and illustrator. Her illustrations are witty and charming. And her illustration, "Mirabella and Peppy," was chosen as a finalist in the 2005 SCBWI NYC Art Showcase. This talented woman is also an instructor at Rochester's Writers & Books.

Mary Beth Miller
Mary Beth Miller writes gripping novels for young adults. She is best known for her novel, AIMEE. She is very nice and quite the conversationalist.

Donna Jo Napoli
Donna Jo Napoli writes everything from picture books to young adult novels on a wide variety of subjects. With all she's done and who she has become, Donna Jo is an inspiration to me. I'm very happy to have had the opportunity to meet her twice.

Richard Peck
Richard Peck is a widely loved children's author and a phenomenal speaker. I had the opportunity to meet him. Not only are his stories entertaining, he is an inspiration for authors everywhere.

Linda Sue Park
Linda Sue Park won the 2002 Newbery Award for her story A Single Shard. On her site she offers aspiring writers advice on the craft of writing and publishing.

Robin Pulver
Robin Pulver is best known for her book Punctuation Takes a Vacation, which was one of School Library Journal's Best Books of 2003. She is also one of the nicest people that I have had the opportunity to meet.

Stu Smith
Stu Smith is a school teacher in Rochester, NY. I have the pleasure of knowing him through RACWI. His books are fun and clever.

Eileen Spinelli
Eileen Spinelli tickles the reader's ears with her lyrical words and beautiful verses. I had the opportunity to meet Eileen twice. And I hope to see her at another meeting in the future.

Jerry Spinelli
Jerry Spinelli is an award winning author most recently known for his books, Maniac Magee and Star Girl. I had an opportunity to meet him recently, and I regret not talking to him more than the few words we exchanged.

Vivian Vande Velde
Vivian is a an author of many talents. Whether it be fantasy, a ghost story, or a fairy tale, her books tickle the senses and sate an appetite for a good story. She has written many books and won many awards. Check them out at her site! 

Mo Willems
Mo Willems is a an author and an illustrator. Although I haven't had the opportunity to meet him, I enjoy his picture books. He has six Emmy Awards for his writing on Sesame Street and at least two Caldecot Honor picture books. I have never met him, but my kids and I enjoy his books.
